Васильев Фёдор Vasiliev Feodor Aleksandrovich (1850-1873)
lived a short life, but his contribution to Russian art is great: he left remarkable pictures of the native nature where truthfulness was combined with thin, pathetic lyricism. His doubtless talent was recognized by all his contemporaries: both artists and critics. Kramskoy compared him to the fantastic richman who didn’t even knowing the accounts to his treasures and because of that generously and recklessly thrown them anywhere. In front of his canvas, especially when he was writing or coping clouds, in amazement stopped both Кramskoy and Repin. In his landscapes there is an alive excitement of the artist enamored in beauty of the nature. Contemporaries and late researchers saw in Vasiliev the painter who was able to make an enormous revolution in all landscape painting if not early death happened.
