ROUSSEAU Henri (1844-1910) French artist-primitive. His nickname The Customs Officer Rousseau - hed been obliged by his working for the Parisian custom house. The self-educated artist, Rousseau began to paint at his forty, after his resignation. In 1885 he exhibited his copies of old masters paintings, had been made in Louvre by himself in a free Art Studio at Elisey fields. A year later he painted The carnival evening. In this painting there are some features of his future individual style: alternation of plans, placement of figures at the landscapes background and carefully work under the all details of composition.
