Kiprensky Orest (1782-1836) – Russian artist and graph painter, the representative of romanticism. He studied in the Petersburg Art Academy (1788-1803) and had been the pensioner of Academy up to 1809. A portrait is his basic genre in which the talent of the great painter has shown. He has been awarded with honour to write the self-portrait for gallery Uffitsi. Kiprensky’s best painting is considered E.V.Davidov's (1809) Portrait. Using contrasts of a lighted model’s face and a dark background, comparison of the sated colors, the painter reached special depth in disclosing a psychological condition of an image, asserts a new sight at the person as on internally independent one.

The album was released by the publishing house "Agni" (Samara), with active cooperation of the Nicholas Roerich Museum in New York, as well as the Moscow Gallery Fine Arts Academy and the St. Petersburg State Museum and Institute of the Roerich Family.
