RENOIR Pierre Augjuste (1841-1919) – one of the leading representatives of impressionism in France, printmaker and sculptor. Was born in a family of the provincial tailor who in 1845 moved to Paris. In a youth Renoir worked as the artist on porcelain. In 1862 he entered School of fine arts. Frequently attended the Louvre, admired with works A.Vatto, F.Bush, O.Fragonara. He was one of the founders and leading exponents of IMPRESSIONISM from the late 1860s, producing some of the movement’s most famous images of carefree leisure. After a scandalous exhibition of impressionists in 1874 the creative work of young painters has been destroyed by contemptuous and angry responses of critics and spectators, O.Renoir was lead more than a modest way of life. He broke with his Impressionist colleagues to exhibit at the Salon from 1878, and from c. 1884 he adopted a more linear style indebted to the Old Masters. His critical reputation has suffered from the many minor works he produced during his later years. The success came to the artist with his well-known Ìóëåí äå ëà Ãàëåòò (1876), joyful and exulting, penetrated with a sunlight, love and carefree fun.
