In 1825 – 1828 the artist took a great interest in this motif – the terrace waved with grape with a view on the sea. The spectacularity of this kind of landscape compositions attracted the numerous clients’ attention, and Tzshedrin repeated them many times. Here the artist realized the ideal of harmonious people’s life in unity with nature close to him. The first and main plan of landscape is made up from hand-made constructions, but cracked walls, peeling columns are apprehended here like natural extension of landscape. Sunrays pass through vines, painting delicate shadow on the floor. The deep vale protects from summer heat, but let the air streaming free, stone walls feel like shedding freshness. Far away, in heat mirage, the sea landscape is melting away. The terraces are for the rest places for common people and wandering monks. Here is the donkey – the indispensable fellow-traveler of poor travelers. The people living on the terraces and the nature around them are full of bliss. Being in easy attitudes they admire the sea distance, lost in afternoon dream or busy with talking. These Tzshedrin’s landscapes, radiating peace and pacification, became the symbol of the eternal afternoon edge, where dreams and reality get together.
