In Yaroslavl the intention of a picture « Rooks was born have arrived », strongly linked creativity of the artist with a vernal subject and plot, close national life. In this picture the artist has shown all skill: the darkened snow in foreground seems friable, and lighted - in the distance of scooping - was coloured soft gold. In pools of water can see the ground also is mirrored a palate; the shadows which have fallen on snow from trees, look mild and transparent. On the right behind a pool, among trees, the scrub of the blossomed willow is seen. « Savrasov tried to locate and in most simple and ordinary those deeply touching, frequently sad features, which one so are strongly felt in our native landscape and so irresistably act on douche », - his schoolboy Levitan wrote.
