The most famous artist of Russia Andrei Rublev was brought up at the cloister, which was founded by Sergey Radonezhsky . He was the monk, a high-educated and wise man. Annals call him “ wonderful old man”, “a man of the perfect virtue”.In 1427 Father-Superior Nikon of Trinity-Sergey… ordered the icon “The Holy Trinity” from Andrei Rublev in memory of the cloister founder Sergey Radonezhsky. The dogma about “The Holy Trinity” is the principle in Christianity. It maintains that God exists the one in three faces – God-Father, Savaoff, Earth and Heaven Founder, visible and invisible world, God-Son, Jesus Christ, and God-The Holy Spirit, the Consoler. According to the Bible, God came to the fore-father Abraham, who put up a tent in the shadow of the high Ìàìâðèéñêîãî oak, with the view of three handsome young men. That is why more often the three-faced divinity is painted in three angels sitting at the table. This is the Holy Trinity.
There are three young men on the Rublev icon, which images have hothing mundane, they look like soaring around the white meal – a table, on which there is just a sacrificial chalice. The genius artist present a miracle, something incomprehensible with the mind: three angels feels like the one because of love and harmony united them. The angel in the middle, God- Father, points to the chalice. Full of love, He must give His Son for cross and death. God-Son, the left one, agrees to His will with the benedictory gesture of His hand. God-The Holy Spirit , the right one, bends His head gently and puts His hand down.
Notwithstanding that the heart of happening is tragic, the icon is full of the heaven harmony. The picture is put in the circle, which fluent lines repeating and being a kind of “rhyming” spill over each other, bringing round and up. The faces of angels look similar and different at the same time. There is a mildness and “strength”, irresistible internal force. The images are painted very gently, with barely perceptible tones. People called this way of painting – “painted with smog”. This icon is the top of Andrei Rublev’life. When there were endless disasters, bloodsheds, high mortality and crucifixions, he told about the most important, which called people to love and peace. The icon was painted in memory of Sergey Radonezhsky , “for a view to The Holy Trinity to fight a fear of hateful dissentions of this world”.
