The Forbidden City |
|
Ivan Porto, Pekin-Moscow |
The article of Ivan Porto, The
Forbidden City, is devoted to the Imperial Palace complex within
the Inner City of Peking. The entrance to it is masked - occasionally or on
purpose - by governmental rostra, so that it is not seen from the square. On
the facade side of the magnificent portal, a huge portrait of Mao Zedong hangs.
Many of us remember both this portrait and these rostra due to numerous news
films. However, few of us know that behind them one of the architectural wonders
of the world is hidden. The article of Ivan Porto, The Forbidden City, is devoted
