Êîðîâèí Êîíñòàíòèí Constantin Korovin (1861-1939)
is a Russian painter. The first Impressionism experience in Russian painting is connected with the name of Constantine Korovin. In 1875 Constantin Korovin entered the Moscow School of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture, where he was taught by I.M. Pryanishnikov, V.G. Perov, A.K. Savrasov and since 1882 by V.D. Poloynov. During the World Exhibition in Paris (1900) Korovin was the head of an art part of the Russian component. For the decoration of Handicraft pavilion (nowadays it was still called «a Russian Village») and for his painting itself the artist was awarded with eleven prizes, two of them were gold. French government also awarded him even with the Legion of Honour prize. Speaking about a stage Korovin became the founder of a new decoration type which was an essential art part of a performance, in which a space organization, costumes are indissolubly connected with a scenic action and music.
