Петров-Водкин Кузьма Kuzma Petrov-Vodkin (1878-1939)
is a Russian painter, a graphic artist, and a monumental painter. He earned living made book illustrations and designed a theatre. Kuzma Petrov-Vodkin began to study drawing in F.E. Burov's classes of painting and drawing. In 1904 he finished the Moscow School of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture. Figurativeness and laconicism of Petrov-Vodkin picturesque painting dated partly from plastic methods of European modern: first of all German and Austrian, and then French neoclassicism and postimpressionism. However at the center of his figurative experiment there is development of national (folklore and iconographic) heritage.
