Denis Maurice (1870-1943) - French artist.
Since he was seventeen years Deni studied in Julian’s academy where prepared for entering the Fine Arts School; in 1888 he took part in creation of group " Naby ". These years Deny has received a nickname ‘’Nabi of beautiful icons’’, given to him under the simplified and slightly archaic character of his painting. Frequently as a model he used his wife. These intimate images frequently painted by gentle humour, down to the end of his life were considered as his happiest pictures. Soon he passed to light painting in a modernist style. After the traveling to Italy (1895-1898 and 1907) his art got the traditionally - classical character shown in the big decorative compositions – wall-paintings.
