Êèïðåíñêèé Îðåñò Kiprensky Orest (1782-1836) – Russian artist and graph painter, the representative of romanticism. He studied in the Petersburg Art Academy (1788-1803) and had been the pensioner of Academy up to 1809. A portrait is his basic genre in which the talent of the great painter has shown. He has been awarded with honour to write the self-portrait for gallery Uffitsi. Kiprensky’s best painting is considered E.V.Davidov's (1809) Portrait. Using contrasts of a lighted model’s face and a dark background, comparison of the sated colors, the painter reached special depth in disclosing a psychological condition of an image, asserts a new sight at the person as on internally independent one.
