Остроухов Илья Ilya Ostroukhov (1858-1929)
Ilya Ostroukhov is a Russian painter, a landscape painter, a portraitist, a museum explorer, and a collector. He was mainly taught by himself, but he also listened to Repin and Polyonov’s advice; he was taught by Chistyakov; he attended the classes in the Moscow School of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture. Firstly he was a member of the Tretyakov Gallery Association, and then he became its trustee. Ilya Ostroukhov is a founder and a keeper of the Museum of Iconographic Drawing and Painting. The work of the early period is characterized by the etudes from a nature. At the end of 1880 from chamber motives he turned to the spatial, generalizing landscapes - pictures, embodied an epic line of a national landscape.
