The present set of albums is the most exhaustive work dedicated to the pictorial heritage of the great Russian painter, scientist, explorer, thinker and public figure, Nicholas Roerich (1874–1947). The publication of such a considerable set of albums in two languages — Russian and English — is of current importance due to the growing interest in the painter’s art in the world.

The first volume is subdivided into chapters according to subject areas, and is richly illustrated (735 plates). These are the works from the largest museums of Russia, the Nicholas Roerich Museum in New York, and museum and private collections of India and the USA. The second volume presents to your attention the painter’s works from museums and private collections of the world, and contains 555 plates. The details of the paintings are given according to the author’s lists, museum records, official letters and the results of examination by experts received from private collectors. The authors of the articles are noted researchers of Nicholas Roerich’s heritage, wellknown both in Russia and abroad, art historians and museum research workers: Anastasia Antonova, Anastasia Bubchikova, Natalia Cherkashina, Ludmila Korotkina, Pyotr Krylov, Irina Kuznetsova, Yevgeny Matochkin, Vladimir Melnikov, Vladimir Rosov, Xenia Rudzite, Larisa Surgina, Aida Tulskaya, Helena Uvarovskaya.
